25 Years in the Making

February 8, 2023, was a day defined by legacy, but more importantly, by family. We gathered at LAS to witness a dream 25 years in the making come full circle as we officially dedicated our live room to our brother and friend, Jotan Afanador.

There is a profound magic that happens when world-class craftsmanship meets deep personal history. Joining the Canopus family, introduced and welcomed by one of our own, was a tremendous experience that words can barely capture. To be celebrated alongside a brother like Jotan made the moment truly unforgettable.

The centerpiece of the celebration was the unveiling of our new Canopus R.F.M. Series drum kit and hybrid hardware, complemented by an elite array of Sabian cymbals and DW 5000 pedals. To sweeten things up even further, we’ve added our own personal store of various Evans drum heads, a line of Gon Bops percussion, and a world-class Canopus snare collection to provide the perfect voice for any session.

When we struck those first notes, the atmosphere shifted. The undeniable sound of perfection didn’t just fill the room; it breathed new life into it. It is deeply humbling to walk into the studio every morning and see the Canopus name and Jotan’s legacy lining our walls—a constant reminder of the journey we’ve shared and the excellence we strive for.
